Koni is the best and only performance strut for the SHO since Tokicos are no longer made. If you have Eibach or Intrax springs, you really need Koni struts as other aftermarket struts cannot handle the higher spring rates. Koni struts are also required when using the Ground Control coilover kit. Simply put, if you need performance struts, you need Koni. Koni struts have three dampning positions ranging from 15% to 55% stiffer than stock.
Koni inserts require disassembly and modification of a factory strut housing to install the insert. This modification can be performed with a drill and metal saw.
As an option for those who want a ready to use Koni strut, we do the work for you and offer Ready to Install Koni struts. We start with rust free strut housings which are precision cut, repainted and then assembled with the correct Koni insert.
For Gen 3 and Gen 4 owners, we now offer a custom Ready to Install Koni strut for you too. Please allow up to two weeks additional delivery for Gen3/4 struts.
Koni struts are highly recommended for SHOs that are aggressively driven or see track duty. Lifetime warranty.
Tech Notes
Koni inserts require modification (cutting and drilling) of factory strut housings (they will not work with aftermarket housings).
There has been confusion over what length of strut body you have in your Taurus or SHO as Ford was not always consistant. To make sure you get the correct insert, you should get under the car and measure from the REAR knuckle down. If the strut measures around 2" you have the short body and if you measure 4" you have the long body. Order by the body length.
1989-5/1992 long body rear struts are currently out of stock. 6/1992 -1995 short body rear struts will work in 1989-5/1992 cars if you change to the short body housings.
Koni inserts to fit 89-07 have been discontinued. We only have less than 10 sets left.
When they are gone they are gone (no pressure to buy now) ;-)
Applications
1986-2007 Taurus Sedan (all motors)
