The stock MTX y-pipe sucks. This is also the first thing that should be replaced as it really opens up the motor.
The y-pipe uses mandrel bends for consistent diameters as opposed to crush bent areas. It is also made from stainless steel for long life. The y-pipe comes in pieces so that you can get the best possible fit. The pipe can be clamped together with provided clamps and then welded if you want.
The y-pipe also features:
- Not cats if you don't want them!
- 49 State CARB approved Cats (if selected)
- CA CARB approved cats avilable
- 2.25" Piping
- Heavy Gauge Stainless Steel
You can compare below the difference with our y-pipe and Magnaflow.
Now in stock.
Tech Notes

Here is a comparison of a high-flow Y pipe (not ours) next to a stock pipe.
- A. The direct drop which is very restrictive is removed and replaced with a smooth mandrel bend. Removing this restriction also reduces backpressure, further reducing stress on your rod bearings
- B. A high flow cat is used that is C.A.R.B. approved.
- C. The crush bends are replaced with smooth mandrel bends.
Larger isn't always better: Larger diameter pipes do not always get the most horse power as the SHO relies on backpressure when running N/A. Large diameter y-pipes (2.5") and catless y-pipes will experience a loss on the low end with only a small extra gain on the top. This will result in a faster car from the take off as the power will be more even.
Includes needed clamps.
For the CA catted it includes the special CA cats. Your car will still pass without them but may not pass visual if someone decides to look. Email us if you have further questions.
